Angler's Mail: Review: Middy Eclipse Rear-Drag Reels

Recommended Posts

The Middy Eclipse Rear-Drag Reels come under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

MIDDY ECLIPSE rear-drag reels, aimed at float and feeder anglers fishing commercial fisheries and natural waters, are great value.

Available in 3000 and 4000 sizes, they have three ball bearings, good line lay, a 5.1:1 gear ratio and a compact bale arm, to improve casting and to reduce line tangles.

They both come with an alloy spool, the smaller model taking 160 m of 0.25 mm line, the bigger 210 m of 0.25 mm line, and a graphite spare.

The handle can be folded down, for storing in a ready-rod holdall.

You could also use these as spinning reels.

Price: £27.50.
